The woman whose body was recovered from the River Shannon near Tarmonbarry on Thursday night has been identified and it is understood she is from Killashee.
The discovery of the middle aged woman by members of the public was made at 9.45pm on Thursday, July 17 and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was removed to the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar at 11.45pm.
Following a post mortem examination which was carried on Friday at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, Gardaà say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
