Gardaà across the county have launched investigations this week after a spate of robberies stretching from the shores of Loch Gowna to the banks of the River Shannon.
Last weekend, thieves targeted the former Burlington site in Fisherstown, Clondra where they stripped the building of its copper and lead fixtures. Last Saturday a private house in Drumlish was ransacked, and later that same day, another house was targeted in Moyne. The back door of the residence was smashed in and the rooms were searched, however gardaà say that nothing was taken.
On Sunday afternoon a house in the Carra area of Granard was also robbed. The thieves entered the house through a front window and stole jewellery and cash including a pearl necklace and gold engagement ring.
Around the same time a private resident was burgled in Coolarty, just a few kilometers away. A shotgun and quantity of cash as well as silver and gold T-Bar necklace was stolen, while an item of jewellery was also taken in a robbery at a house in Ballinalee last Thursday afternoon.Gardaà are also seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a flat bed trailer with a red bottom that was loaded with firewood when it was taken from Tubber, Granard last Thursday. “We would be asking people to be vigilant,†added the garda.
