Longford Volunteer Centre recently celebrated its achievement in being chosen for Volunteer Ireland’s Volunteer Centre Quality Award.
Martina Glennon, volunteer and local business woman presented the award which coincided with Longford Volunteer Centre’s annual volunteer appreciation event on Tuesday, December 5 in the EDI Centre where An Taoiseach Enda Kenny was a visitor last week.
Terri Doherty Co-ordinator said, “Longford Volunteer Centre is delighted to have achieved this award. It is a testament to the excellent service and support we have offered since we opened in 2007. We aim to maintain these standards and to support the needs of volunteers and organisations in county Longford in the future.â€
The Volunteer Centre Quality Award is presented to volunteer centres in recognition of their high standard of service to volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations.
An assessment is carried out over a two day period and the award is achieved once a centre meets the Quality Standard framework.
The concept of the appreciation evening is to say ‘thank you’ to all the volunteers across Longford who volunteer their time and skills for the benefit of many organisations.
