Ballymore woman dies after tree falls on car

Aisling Maguire, 23, was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar, where she died from injuries sustained when a tree fell on her car.
A 23-year-old woman from Ballymore on the Longford-Westmeath border died yesterday afternoon after her car was struck by a tree brought down by high winds.

A 23-year-old woman from Ballymore on the Longford-Westmeath border died yesterday afternoon after her car was struck by a tree brought down by high winds.

Aisling Maguire died following the accident which was caused by storm force winds in the area.

The incident occurred on the Ballymahon Road in Mullingar at around 4pm. Emergency services cut the woman from the vehicle and she was rushed to the town’s regional hospital with severe head injuries. However, she passed away at the hospital yesterday evening.

The woman, who worked at Newbrook Nurisng Home in Mullingar and used to play for Loughnavalley GAA Club, was a former student of Ballymahon Vocational School.
