Laptops, iPhones, cash and even bicycles were among the items stolen from houses in Longford over the past seven days.
The first incident recorded by gardai occurred in the Willow Park area last Tuesday (July 23).
The drive r parked her car, a navy coloured Nissan Navara along the side of the road at around 3pm with the keys still inside the vehicle.
Within minutes, a male suspect made off with the UK registered vehicle.
Gardai are anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen vehicle, registration number YF10 ZRV, in the meantime.
Separately , house was broken into in the Clonbalt Woods area of town sometime between last Wednesday (July 24, 9am) and Monday evening (6:30pm), July 29. It’s believed the incident occurred after the house had been unoccupied for a few days.
When the homeowner returned, they discovered a window had been removed and a silver BMX bicycle taken.
Separately, the weekend also saw two houses targeted in Stonepark. The first occurred between 1am and 7am, resulting in the theft of an iPhone and a wallet which contained a sum of cash.
Barely 24 hours later, at Curry, Stonepark thieves stole a Playstation console, two laptop computers and €100 in cash.
The rise in copper theft continues and a house in Ferefad was targeted last week by thieves who stole a copper cylinder.
The incident occurred between Thursday and Friday of last week.
Investigators are satisfied vandals forced their way in to the property through a front door between the hours of 4pm on July 25 and 12 noon the following day.
Fortunately, no further damage was caused to the house thanks to the owner who luckily had the water system turned off.
