Gardaí in Longford town are appealing to the public to assist them with their enquiries following a number of burglaries in and around the town.
On Tuesday, March 5 last, a private house was robbed in broad daylight after the assailant forced open the rear door of the dwelling and gained access to the property.
The incident occurred between the hours of 2pm and 3pm in the Ardnacassa area of Longford town and quantities of cash and prescription drugs were stolen. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area and noticed anything suspicious to make contact with them.
The following day - Wednesday March 6 - between 8pm and 9:30pm a Fiat van was broken into and €1,400 worth of tools stolen. The incident occurred ouside Melview NS and gardaí are anxious to speak to anyone who noticed anything suspicious around the time of the incident. A Milwaukee Drill, Bosch nail gun, welder and Hilti Drill were taken in the theft. On the same day betwen 6:45pm and 9pm another van was targeted – this time at St Bridget’s Terrace in the heart of Longford town. The fly window on the passenger’s side was smashed in and entry subsequently gained access to the vehicle. The culprits made off with nearly €1,400 worth of tools including a Dewalt nail gun and four Dewalt drills. As a result of these incidents, Gardaí are warning unsuspecting consumers who may be approached to purchase tools, to report the matter to them immediately.
