RSA Rollover: Last week all students took part in an RSA young driver’s safety campaign. This involved all classes taking part in a number of road safety games, quizzes and interactive training. Students and staff also had the opportunity to take part in a rollover simulator. A specialised car simulated the experience of a roll over situation in the event of an accident. This was a very daunting experience for all who took part. The RSA also gave advice on how to act practically and safely if such a situation were to occur. This experience was invaluable for all young drivers and passengers. A massive thanks to the RSA representatives on the day and to Ms Hennigan, Ms Killian, the Student Council members and TYs for helping organise and facilitate this eye opening initiative.
Hard Luck Lads: Commiserations to the Senior Rugby boys who were defeated by Wilson’s Hospital School on Wednesday last. The lads fought a hard fight but were defeated on the day. Thanks to Mr Prior for his dedication to the team.
DOMA BEO: Well done to Domabeo-Liam and Laura Doherty and Maria Matthews who represented the school in the semi finals of the All Ireland School’s Talent Search in Castlebar in recent weeks. Unfortunately it was the end of the road for the talented trio, narrowly missing out in a place in the live finals. The group were outstanding on the night, giving it their all. Thanks to all those who supported the group, those who travelled to Castlebar and all the staff and students who donated money to buy votes via a school raffle. Over 650e was raised in total, with all proceeds going to Childline. We look forward to hearing more from this talented trio!
Green Schools: Our green schools’ committee are working hard to keep our school clean and green at the moment, please observe and use the correct bins and get involved in the latest green school initiative, the Moyne Mile. The mile begins every Friday at 1.40 at the side of the gym, all students and staff are encouraged to take part!
Welcome Back: Welcome back to all of our Transition Year students who recently enjoyed two weeks of work experience. They are now back into the swing of school life again!
