UCD Summer school 2013: is now taking registrations. The Summer School will take place in University College Dublin from 4th to 7th June 2013. There are day-long workshops in a wide range of courses from Engineering to nursing, film to nutrition to psychology. Maths Competition: All first year maths students entered the first year maths competition run by the Irish Maths Teachers Association. Congratulations to Neil Kilbane, Arron O Connor, Ellen Kelly, Alex Krol, Andrew Sweetnam, Keelan Thompson Moran, Aaron Farrell, Emma Campbell, Rachel Bermingham and James Foley who now qualify for the next round.

Student Council: The Student Council have begun work on re-planting the courtyard outside the Home Economics kitchen. This follows the hard work they have put in to a plan for the area. Thanks to parent Annie Donohoe for all her help with the plan. We look forward to seeing it finished!

Basketball: In Basketball news both the Junior teams and the U16’s had matches during the week. The 1st Year girls team unfortunately lost their match against Gallen knocking them out of the competition – Hard luck. However, the 2nd Year girls were victorious beating the opposition 22-20 resulting in them getting through to the regional playoffs on Monday 11th vs Borrisokane. The scores were: Rachel Dillon (10) Orla Duffy (4) Chloe Murtagh (4) Áine Bannon (2) Anna Pendred (2). Congratulations to U16 girls Basketball team, coached by Mr. Demspey on beating St.Aidans Secondary School, Cork, in the All-Ireland Semi-Final, which was held in Tallaght Leisure Centre on Thursday last. The score at full-time was 36-21. Scores were as followed: Rachel Dillon (12) Niamh Feeney (8) Tracey Dillon (7) Sarah O’Boyle (7) and Áine Lynn (2). They are now through to the All-Ireland Finals on the week of the 19th-22nd of March! Congrats to coach Mr. Dempsey.

Soccer: Hard luck to our minor soccer team who lost the Leinster semi-final on March 5th. They put up a strong battle but lost by 3-1 to Riverdale CC. Thanks to Kevin Stansbury and Reina Flower for all their hard work with the team.

Enterprise Awards: The TY Mini-Company ‘Aqua Snap’ won the Longford Co. Enterprise Awards. They now go forward to the All-Ireland Final in Croke Park. The members of the company are – Peter Bohan, Cathal Hughes, Ríoch Farrell and David Shannon. We wish them the best of luck. Congrats to their mentor Mr. Dempsey.
