Gardai probe gun attack on horse

Gardai are this week trying to establish the motive behind a gun attack on a horse in Killashee during the early hours of last Friday morning.

The stallion bred horse was found by its owner at around 12:45am with a gunshot wound to its head.

Detectives heading up the inquiry said investigations into the attack were still ongoing on Monday and were likely to continue over the next number of days.

In a separate incident, gardai are also anxious to speak to anyone who may have witnessed an assault on a woman in the Richmond Street area last Friday (June 17) afternoon.

A 32 year old female suffered bruising to her arms and face during the attack, which gardai believe was carried out by two men at around 4:30pm.
