Cllr John Duffy, Cllr Frank Kilbride and Cllr Maura Kilbride-Harkin have all been added to the Fine Gael ticket for the Granard electoral area for this year’s Local Elections to Longford County Council.
They will join sitting councillor, Michael Carrigy, and Mr Padraic Brady on the Fine Gael ticket.
The move ends weeks of speculation about Fine Gael’s plans for the Granard Electoral Area. After the official nominations late last year, Fine Gael had indicated that there were plans to add at least one more person to the ticket. However the decision to add three more people will be greeted with some surprise. Nonetheless it means Fine Gael will have a candidate in all the biggest areas throughout the expansive Granard Electoral Area.
There are six seats up for grabs in the Granard Electoral Area in the upcoming local elections in May.
