Moydow girl Moya Nowell and her family will be taking a once in a lifetime trip to Orlando, Florida thanks to a newly formed local trust.

The ‘Kids Paradise Dream Come True’ initiative was started in early 2013 by the owner of Kids Paradise Créche and Montessori Pre-school, Elizabeth Yorke and her daughter Serena. The initiative allowed staff, parents, families and friends to nominate a child under 16, who they felt were entitled to the holiday. Five year old Moya, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, was nominated by Shona Matthews.

During the year, fundraisers were held to raise the necessary costs. A Fawlty Towers fundraiser took place in The Longford Arms Hotel and 70 women ran the marathon for the cause. Money was also donated to the initiative; Ronan Quinn donated €1,000 for the family’s flights, and Ollie Glancy presented Elizabeth with €1,000 spending money.

“It is most definitely a ‘Dream Come True’ for the whole family” Elizabeth says. “I want to thank all the people who got involved, and all the sponsors. Thanks also to the parents in the creche, they were very good.”

Moya and her family will set off on their two-week holiday on July 20. The trip will include a visit, guided by Elizabeth, to the Disneyland parks.
