Customs officers seized 50,000 cigarettes in Co Longford yesterday (June 25), as Revenue continues to target the sale and supply of illegal cigarettes.

The cigarettes, which were seized in Edgeworthstown, have a retail value of approximately €24,000 and potential loss to the Exchequer of €11,000.

Two individuals in their 20’s have been questioned about the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
