Newly elected local area representative, Cllr Colm Murray (FG), said that funding of nearly €750,000 for Longford roadworks will act as a major boost.

The money has been provided by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.

“This is a great boost for the county,” said Cllr Murray. “The roads programme was finalised months ago, so this additional funding will allow the Council to repair roads that need works done to them.”

He added. “The south Longford area will receive a sizable amount of the funding allocation, and I intend to meet with the Ballymahon area engineer to discuss the addition of roads and footpaths in south Longford”.
