A new Primary Care Centre, located in Flancare Business Park, Ballyminnion, Longford opened on Monday April 15th.
Arlene Crean, HSE Area Communications Officer explains that the Centre’s “full range of services will commence on a phased basis over the next few weeks.” Services that will become available include Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Home Help Service, Health Promotion Services, Occupational Therapy, Dietetic and Nutrition Services and all Public Health Nursing Clinics.
There were fears about the centre when its location emerged due to its proximity to the Gleann Riada housing estate, where high levels of toxic gases were recorded. A Root Cause Analysis and Risk Assessment Report carried out after an explosion at the site found that the estate was built on marshland and in the report, several concerns were raised about the quality of the sewage system. However, Ms Crean assures that the Primary Care Centre is “completely separate from the Gleann Riada site”.
