Suspected Winter Vomiting Bug outbreak at Mullingar Hospital

The Midlands Regional Hospital at Mullingar is experiencing a suspected outbreak of the Winter Vomiting Bug and the HSE is requesting that people comply with vistor restrictions imposed to help stop the virus from spreading.

The Midlands Regional Hospital at Mullingar is experiencing a suspected outbreak of the Winter Vomiting Bug and the HSE is requesting that people comply with vistor restrictions imposed to help stop the virus from spreading.

The bug is potentially dangerous and is particuarly unsafe to children and the elderly. Because of this, the HSE is asking that people only visit the hospital if it is absolutely necessary, while children should not enter the hosptial. Anyone who has experienced nausuea, vomiting and/or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours should not visit the hospital as they risk spreading the virus to sick and vulnerable patients.

Infection control procedures are now in place at the hospital and will remain so until further notice.
