The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan TD has announced a new pilot programme that is being rolled out as part of the turf cutting compensation scheme. The Energy Efficiency and Transition Programme is a new element of the Cessation Turf Cutting Compensation Scheme (CTCCS).

Local FG TD, James Bannon said that the programme would offer “valuable advice” to turf cutters, particularly to those on the Moneybeg and Clareisland Bogs in Co Westmeath. “Turf cutters will learn how to best maximise the energy efficiency of their homes and on renewable energy measures that may be suitable,” said Deputy Bannon.
