R.I.P: We offer our sincere condolences to Rachel and Niall O’Farrell and Grace Kemple on the death of their grandfather. May he rest in peace.

CHELTENHAM: At Cheltenham, in addition to the usual Irish interest in the event, this year will also have an added attraction for all Longford people, as Carrickedmond jockey and past pupil Patrick Gerety will be competing in the Christies Foxhunter Chase on board ‘Cottage Oak’. All in BVS wish you the very best of luck!!

BROD CLUB: Seo youth club arί Gaeilge run by our Irish teachers and any volunteering parents. We will have games and activities through our native tongue agus bί ag gaire! This is free to the parents of students in our school. Our next meeting will take place on the 13th, from 4pm to 5pm each evening. Be there!!

ASSESSMENT DAY: On Saturday last, we held a very successful assessment day. We enjoyed meeting up with you all and look forward in getting to know you and your parents a lot better over the coming weeks and month ahead.

ORALS: The French department and the Irish department within the school are very busy practising for the orals. Each student is allocated time from their class teacher to conduct mock orals, and spend time outlining where improvements can be made. This is a busy time for language students and their teachers, and we wish them well.

BOYS FOOTBALL: Our U-16 footballers had a great win over Ard Scoil Phadraig in the County Competition. All players played extremely well. Well done boys!

FITNESS: All students in the school have now completed two fitness tests. It was great to see so many trying to improve their level from the last time. All results are up on the notice board and all students can see how well they got The top five boys and girls results are posted on the notice board.

GIRLS FOOTBALL: 1st and 2nd year girls enjoyed a football Blitz in Banagher, Co. Offaly Tuesday last. Well done to the girls, an enjoyable day was had by all.
