Pub of the Year Awards 2011

The results are in and the winners for the Longford Pub of the Year 2011 Awards have been announced, with the overall winner being Foley’s Bar, Longford. This well established Longford watering hole also took the Best Outdoor / Garden area for the second year running.

The results are in and the winners for the Longford Pub of the Year 2011 Awards have been announced, with the overall winner being Foley’s Bar, Longford. This well established Longford watering hole also took the Best Outdoor / Garden area for the second year running.

The Bar Person of the Year award went to Mary Sharkey of Hughie Doyle’s Bar, while the Community Pub Award went to Begley’s of Killoe.

The Best Live Entertainment award belonged to The Bent Elbow, Drumlish and the Olde Worlde Bar award was won by Casey’s Bar, Newtownforbes. Casey’s also took home the award for the Best Pint of Guinness.

Meanwhile the Best Sports Bar went to Murph’s Bar for the second consecutive year, and the Best Bar Food / Menu went to The Tavern, Drumlish. Last, but not least, the Best Hotel Bar was won by The Longford Arms Hotel.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, which took place earlier this week in the Longford Arms Hotel, Managing Director at the Longford Leader Joe Flaherty said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the bars that took part in this year’s awards. We hope to build on these awards every year and I look forward to meeting you all again next year.

“I would also like to thank Paddy Power for sponsoring our supplement and the Longford Arms Hotel for sponsoring the food, wine and venue for this evening.”
