We all had a superb meal with many choices and top class music was played by our local musicians, Johnny, Bernie, Jimmy, Stephen and Thomas and appreciated by all present.

Raffle was included on the admission tickets and first prize of 100 euro was won by Edel Kiernan, Lismacaffrey and other winners included Susan Moran, John Gilligan, Abbeylara, John Keary, Bridget Murphy, Legan, Ivor Lloyd, Rathowen, Mairad Kelly and Philomena Parker. During the dance there were many valuable spot prizes for which we thank the donors. The attendance may not have been as large as in previous years but the craic was certainly as good as ever. Thanks to John Feerick, John Hughes and staff for a memorable night. This year's vintage Day is July, 10th so mark the calendar.

LOTTO

Streete parish Park Lotto takes place every fortnight and we would appreciate some help selling envelopes. Maybe you could sell a few at work or in your area, after all this is what keeps our complex up to the standard it is. Young and old benefit from the facility and it is hard for a few individuals to cope. Please consider if you could sell even a few envelopes at 2 euro a fortnight. All or any offers of support to Brian at 086 2596656 or email bnerney@o2.ie and envelopes will be organised for you.

FARMERS MARKET

After the Christmas break we recommenced again last Saturday and will continue on Saturday's from 10a.m. to 12 noon indoors in the Parish Park Complex. Why not give it a try if only for a cup of tea. All queries to 086 2596656 or email bnerney@o2.ie. Lotto envelopes are available each Saturday. All home baking, jams & marmalades, vegetables, timber, turf, garden furniture, hand crafted giftware, Aloe Vera products etc etc. We would also welcome new stalls – there is plenty of space.

STREETE BOWLS

Both Streete teams had away matches last week. The A team travelled to Tyrrellspass and after losing the first two games fought back to take the next two. The final score was 32 to 30 in favour of Tyrrellspass. The B team travelled to Castlepollard and once again punched above their weight, winning two games and drawing one, to leave both teams even on two and a half points each.

Team A 1: Jimmy Leavy, Phyllis Martin, Martin Gaynor and Finbarr Mullen

Team 2 : Michael Turner, Enda Murphy, Bill Harvey and Sean Flood.

Team B 1: Hugh Duffy, Bill Bennett, Packie Scally and Pat Kelly.

Team 2 : Eamon Carthy, Tom Connell, Thomas Sullivan and Jimmy Kelly.

On Tuesday night 8th February, we have Mullingar and Ballymore at home and two more great games are anticipated! Streete Bowls Club sent four teams to the Tyrrellspass Trips last Sunday. Unfortunately we had no success but we had a very enjoyable afternoon.

New members are always welcome at our club.

BOHERQUILL RAMBLERS

Following a night and morning of very heavy rain, the Ramblers arrived at Newcastle Forest for their walk last Sunday afternoon expecting more of the same, but the rain stopped, and while the sun didn't shine at least there was no need for waterproof clothing.

On next Sunday, February 13th, the Ramblers walk will begin in Abbeylara. Members will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet in Abbeylara at 2pm.

Club Secretary Patricia Bruton is at present taking the names of those who would like to join the Ramblers annual trip to Strangford around St. Patrick's Day. A coach will travel north on the evening of Wednesday March 16th and the group will return on Saturday the 19th. The cost will be approximately €250 per head to cover transport, food and accommodation. Anyone interested is asked to contact Patricia on 087 9812801 as soon as possible.

Please note that this year's Ramblers Annual General Meeting will take place in Streete Community Centre on Sunday March 6th.
