There was plenty of excitement across the county this morning, as news broke that one student had received 12As in the 2014 Junior Certificate Examinations.

A student of Mercy Secondary School, Ballymahon, Emma Donohoe, daughter of Annie and Paul, is one of just four students nationwide to achieve such a feat.

“It’s absolutely fantastic,” said Principal Josephine Donohue. “We’re thrilled for her.”

Indeed, excellent results have been recorded across the county, as 647 Longford students opened their results.

Lanesboro Community College were delighted to reveal that one student, Mark Lyons, son of Michael and Mary, had earned 10As in his exams. Deputy Principal Michael Lyons happily stated, “we’re delighted that he, and all the other students, achieved so well.”
