Bannon welcomes Sports Capital funding for Longford groups

Deputy James Bannon (FG) has welcomed the announcement of �835,000 for sports clubs and organisations in Longford.
Fine Gael TD for Longford-Westmeath, James Bannon, has welcomed the announcement that €260,099.00 will be awarded to Longford-based clubs and organisations under the Sports Capital Grant.

Fine Gael TD for Longford-Westmeath, James Bannon, has welcomed the announcement that €260,099.00 will be awarded to Longford-based clubs and organisations under the Sports Capital Grant.

“The Sports Capital Programme aims to foster an integrated and planned approach to developing sports and physical recreation facilities throughout the country,” he said. “It aims to assist voluntary and community organisations and schools develop high quality, safe, well-designed, sustainable facilities in appropriate locations and to provide appropriate equipment to help maximise participation in sport and physical recreation.”

The groups which are set to benefit from the funding are:

Abbeyshrule Canoe Club (€13,000)

Ardagh St Patrick’s GAA (€20,000)

Ballymore GFC (€9,000)

County Longford Golf Club (€50,000)

Emmet Óg GFC (€30,000)

Inny Kayakers Association (€8,000)

Longford RFC (€21,299)

Longford Slashers Camogie Club (€2,800)

Longford Tennis Club (€6,000)

St Teresa’s National School (€100,000)
