Man charged over Edgeworthstown drugs find

A man in his late 20s is due to appear in Athlone District Court this morning (Friday), charged in relation to the discovery of a firearm and drugs at a house in Edgeworthstown.

A man in his late 20s is due to appear in Athlone District Court this morning (Friday), charged in relation to the discovery of a firearm and drugs at a house in Edgeworthstown.

Gardaí carried out a planned search of the house yesterday afternoon, 5th Dec, at about 4pm. During the course of the search they discovered a 9mm pistol and a small quantity of drugs, believed to be cocaine, cannabis and crystal meth.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act, 1939.
