WELCOME BACK: Welcome back to all students and staff after the break. We hope you all had a pleasant time and are ready and rearing for plenty of hard work over the coming weeks.
EQUESTRIAN SUCCESS: Well done to our teams who performed so well at the Hunter Trials held during the mid-term. Our Open Team came 2nd on the challenging course – so congratulations to Eoghan, James and Tara. The 3 Novice teams all had clear rounds which was admirable. James Whyte came 3rd in the Individual Competition. We look forward to our next day in Mullingar.
ASSESSMENT: On Saturday March 9th we are having our Entrance Assessment for incoming 1st year students from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm. Enrolment forms are still being accepted at the school.
MOCK EXAMS: The 6th and 3rd year students have just completed their mock exams and are awaiting their results. Well done to our students who put in a tremendous effort in the exams. Effort made and results achieved in the mocks should be a stimulus for all students to work hard to achieve their full potential in the state examinations in June.
GET WELL SOON: We wish a speedy recover to our music teacher, Ms. Fleming, who obtained a recent injury. We look forward to your return over the coming weeks! A warm welcome is extended to Mr. Mahady, who takes over the music department over the weeks ahead.
ALL-IRELAND: We wish the very best of luck to Wayne O’Malley and Sarah Hanley, 4th year students, who take part in the National Semi Final of the All Ireland School’s Talent Search. The final will have taken place on Saturday night last in Castlebar, so we wish both the very best in their endeavors. On Friday last, we held a non Uniform day in support of their associated charity, ‘Childline’. Nevertheless, one particular teacher (Mr. Arrigan) decided he was going to break the rule and wear the school uniform. Thankfully, our deputy principal Mrs. Bannon was on hand to sort this serious event last Friday, however, when asked for his journal, he apparently ‘left it in a garage’. Ms. Victory is to deal with the issue!!! Fingers crossed Wayne and Sarah can progress on to the next level!!! Watch this space.
Football/Rugby: Our Junior teams were very busy last week. On Thursday last, our first year footballers took part in a Blitz in Mullingar. Friday, was the turn of our 2nd years, who participated in a Rugby Blitz in Athlone. By all accounts everyone really got into the spirit of the occasion. Well done lads!
ERICSSON IRELAND: Anne O’Connell and David Donnelly from Ecricsson Ireland carried out interviews as part of the schools/business programme. The job on offer in the attendant at the upcoming state examinations in June. This experience was of great benefit to our 4th year students, as the experience of interview and it’s techniques are invaluable. The results of these interviews will be returned over the coming weeks along with feedback for each student.
