Bus routes serving Co Longford’s second ary school network are in need of review, a recent VEC meeting heard.
Cllr Micheal Carrigy called on the School Transport Office to look again at bus service channels for post-primary schools following recent changes to the school boundary areas.
The Ballinalee based councillor gave an example of students living in his own hometown village, revealing they were now within the Granard school catchment area.
Those changes, he said, meant the nearest bus stop for school transport to Granard is situated three miles from the village on the main Granard road. As such and in a bid to aid those affected, Cllr Carrigy urged Bus Eireann to re-route the existing school run that is presently in operation.
