A Longford native has been shortlisted in the category “Best Health Promotion Project” in the 6th annual Crystal Clear MSD Health Literacy Awards 2013.
Marianne Murphy, who works in Brothers of Charity, has been shortlisted for the initiative “Breast Cancer Awareness Program for Women with Intellectual Disabilities” aimed at using visual and easy to read presentation techniques to help women with Intellectual Difficulties (ID) to learn about breast health awareness.
Marianne and her team in Brothers of Charity, along with the Marie Keating Foundation and KARE developed the initiative to address the needs of women with ID, who may not have the same understanding of and access to preventative health screenings as other women.
