During last week’s monthly meeting of Longford Co Council, Local Area Representative for Longford town Cllr Paul Connell, submitted a notice of motion calling on the local authority to consider designating “corridor or corridors of key town centre areas, and as such, would qualify for further development contributions decreases above and beyond what has been agreed nationally.”

During last week’s monthly meeting of Longford Co Council, Local Area Representative for Longford town Cllr Paul Connell, submitted a notice of motion calling on the local authority to consider designating “corridor or corridors of key town centre areas, and as such, would qualify for further development contributions decreases above and beyond what has been agreed nationally.”

He said: “I would like to propose that designated enterprises such as accommodation providing 30+ rooms and other key developments to be recognised by the Longford local authorities as exempt from development levies altogether.”
