CLONFIN COMMEMORATION

On Sunday Febuary 6th next the annual comemmoration of the famous Clonfin Battle will be held at the site.As this is the 90th anniversary it is a special one and the committee have added a number of extra items to the celebrations which include an essay competition for sixth class pupils from a number of local schools and the winners will be presented with their prizes on the day.Also the 11-30 Mass in St.Mary's in Granard will be for all deceased members and the highlight of the day will be the presence of Fr.Alec Reid who will deliver the address at the site.Fr.Reid is well known for his great efforts in bringing about the peace in Northern Ireland and it will be a great pleasure for us to have him among us.The usual guard of honour from the R.D.F.and the O.N.E.and the army pipe band will also be in attendance so a full day of celebrations is planned so please come along and join in them.Refreshments will be served in McElvaney's after the activities.

RAFFLE WINNERS

SYMPATHY

We offer our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the Gallagher family Abbylara and the Kenny family Whitehill on the sudden and very untimely death of Mary Gallagher which occurred at her home on Thursday last.Mary will be laid to rest this week.Full obituary next week.May she rest in peace.

GAA NEWS

Ballymore football club will hold their dinner dance in the Pikers Lodge Gowna on Saturday night Febuary 19th next and tickets are now on sale.This promises to be a great night out for all the community and the junior winning team of thirty years ago will be honoured on the night and the division two winners of 2010 will be presented with their medals.Music is by Noel Cassidy so make sure you pencil this date into your diary.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Ballymore club for 2011 is now due and Tommy McNally will be out on his rounds in the coming weeks collecting same.The membership fee is 20 euro or family membership is available at 30 euro.

MINOR MEETING

Ballymore minor board will hold their annual general meeting in Killeen school on Friday night January 28th at 8-00pm.All members and parents are asked to attend.
