REGRETTED DEATH: There was general regret by his former students of Carrigallen Vocational school at the news of the recent death of their vice principal teacher Mr Arnold Fitzpatrick, Drumshanbo North Aughavas which has occurred following a short illness at Cavan General Hospital. He was a member of the staff of Carrigallen Vocational School from 1970 until his retirement in 1997.

Arnold taught Irish and maths. He was a very humorous and brilliant teacher. He won the British Open Draughts Championship in 1983 and went onto compete in the world finals that same year. As a student in UCG he competed with the Irish universities against the British universities in boxing. In 1963 he won a county Leitrim senior football championship medal with his native Aughavas. Sympathy is extended to his wife Kathleen , sons , daughters and extended family brother Val Mohill , relatives and friends . Ar dheis de go raibh a anam uasal.

TRAINING COURSE

All members who intend to train manage juvenile teams from U8 and up to minors have a foundation course to complete. Its a 2 day course on 4th Feb 7pm – 10.30pm in Bush Hotel Carrick on Shannon and 5th Feb in the sports complex/ community pitch, Carrick on Shannon. SCOR NA NOG

Carrigallen had 3 finalists in this years scor na nog final held in Manorhamilton. Taking part in ceoil - instrumental ballad group and novelty act. The following took part in Ceoil instrumental Daniel Hacket, Kate and Amy Reilly, In the ballad group Kelly O'Rourke, Paula Kiernan, Kirsty Mulligan, Leanne Karney; in the novelty act Laureen , Amy Bronagh and Shannen O'Roirke, Eileam Masterson, Jack Ledwitth. The scor committee would like to thank the following for their help and assistance in getting the above act into the final. Bernard McCartin for his assistance and commitment to the Novelty Act. Mary Harte for her commitment and time in working with the ballad group and Raymond Hacket for his assistance with the ceoil instrumental. We would like to thank those who took part in the semi finals in ballinamore in Dec 2010. In the solo singing Paula Kiernan and Tanishe Maguire represented Carrigallen, in the figure dancing team Sinead O'Neill, Megan O'Rourke,, Niamh Brady, Aisling and Tanishe Maguire, Orla Kiernan, Sara Hacket and Grace Masterson to whom all did their club proud. In the question time team Kirsty Mulligan, Bronagh and Amy O'Rourke who did extremely well and came joint 5th in the overall score. Unfortunately we had no winner in the final and we wish all the teams representing Leitim every success in the next round.
