critical following Carrick assault

A Longford man was yesterday (Tuesday) in a critical condition in Beamount Hospital, Dublin, following a serious assault in Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday, December 18 last.

A Longford man was yesterday (Tuesday) in a critical condition in Beamount Hospital, Dublin, following a serious assault in Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday, December 18 last.

According to local Gardaí the young man, who has been locally as Longford town native Mark O’Shea, sustained serious injuries to his head following an assault in the Townspark area (near the Landmark Hotel) of Carrick on Shannon.

It’s understood Mr O’Shea, who is in his 30s, was attacked at around 3.15am, prompting Gardaí to launch a public appeal for witnesses to come forward and assist them with their investigation.
