After the phenomenal success of last year’s Longford Leader/Rehab Longford People of the Year awards, the search is now underway for nominees for the 2011 event.
Rehab in association with the Longford Leader has launched the 2011 call for nominations for this prestigious award and local people are being asked to nominate their inspirational heroes. The winners will be honoured at a Gala Ceremony on November 25 in the Longford Arms Hotel.
This is the 30th year of the Rehab People of the Year Awards and the event was revived last year when the Longford Leader came on board. The new format reinvigorated the event and the success of the awards surpassed all expectations. Not only did they highlight the incredible work being carried out in the community sector right across the county, the awards also highlighted the work of Rehab in Co Longford.
Co Longford has a thriving voluntary sector with many busy community groups and individuals working on different projects throughout the county. The People of the Year Awards aim to recognise the contribution of these individuals and organisations on a different platform.
Speaking at the recent launch of the event Niall Cole , Rehab Event Organiser commented: “We are delighted to formally announce the launch of the 2011 Longford People Of The Year Awards. The awards which are in their 30th year recognise the wonderful contributions that individuals and groups make to improving the lives of people around them in Longford. The nominations process for this year is now open so if there is someone that you think needs special recognition for their dedication to others we would love to hear from you.”
To enter a person or organisation that you think would deserve this award, all you have to do is fill out the nomination form below and send it to Longford People of the Year Awards, Longford Leader, Leader House, Dublin Road, Longford.
“We have a lot of hard-working individuals who work tirelessly for their local communities but sometimes their contribution is overlooked or underestimated. These awards are designed to honour these people “ Sheila Reilly Editor of the Longford Leader explained. “Last year’s awards showcased a diverse range of people and projects and this year, we hope to do the same. Longford is a vibrant hub for community projects and these projects are driven by some incredible people who deserve some recognition for their work.”
Once again the People of the Year Awards are taking place in conjunction with Rehab, an organisation that is deeply involved in projects throughout Co Longford. Rehab is an organisation which works towards a world where every person has the opportunity to achieve their potential and its work on the ground in Longford has changed the lives of thousands of people over the years. Now Rehab wants to recognise the work of other people or organisations.
“There are many, many heroes all over Longford whose achievements deserve wider recognition and the Longford People of the Year Awards are all about recognising these individuals and organisations,” Niall Cole of Rehab explained. “The Awards night honours these inspirational people, and shows us all what we can achieve with hard work, determination, and passion. We do, however, need your help and I would encourage Longford people to take the time to nominate these unsung heroes before October 28, 2011.”
As such, nominations for individuals, groups or organisations are being accepted for the Awards and the closing date is October 28.
