Gardai arrest man after raid on Longford town shop

Bru’s Shop in the Market Square was the scene of a burglary when a 26-year-old male entered the shop at 12.30pm on Saturday July 30 last and went behind the counter before stealing a purse containing a sum of money.

The culprit was subsequently arrested by Gardai and appeared before a special sitting of Longford District Court on Sunday July 31 last. He was remanded into custody to Castlerea and will appear before Longford District Court today, Wednesday August 3.

Meanwhile, Caislean Breac housing estate, Newtownforbes, was the scene of another burglary between 9am and 1pm on Tuesday July 26 last. Entry was gained via a back window leading to theft of a 32” black plasma TV along with a set of speakers.

An Drianan housing estate, Lanesboro Road, Ballymahon, was the scene of another burglary on Saturday July 30 last. Between the hours of 11.30pm and 10am (Sunday July 31), the house was broken into and two coffee tables taken. One was cube shaped and the other had a small glass top.
