Local groups up for Pride of Place awards

Lanesboro Tourism Co-Op and Longford Mental Health Association have both been nominated by Longford County Council to represent the county in the Pride of Place Awards. Judging in the awards took place last week and the details on the winning groups nationwide will be announced in due course.

The National Pride of Place Competition is hosted by Co-operation Ireland under its Local Authority programme in conjunction with the all-island Local Authority Steering Forum. The aim of the competition is to encourage best practice, innovation and leadership in building communities.

This is Longford County Council’s 7th year entering the competition and over the the years County Longford had four national award winners: Rathcline Sustainable Energy Project, the Temperance Hall Committee, ‘East Meets West’ Women’s Group and Longford Women’s Link.
