Ten new jobs are to be created in Co Longford by an Italian-based company providing consulting services to the energy trading risk management sector.

ARK Energy Consulting Ltd (ARKlab) was founded in 2010 and has focussed on providing IT services to its clients. The company’s Irish project will require software development skills, and as this work can be carried out independently of location of its clients, the company made the decision to base the venture in Co Longford.

While making the announcement, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said: “Whether in individual connections like this or wider Government strategy, our message is that Ireland is open for business and a great location for inward investment.”

Fine Gael TD for Longford/Westmeath, James Bannon, added: “This announcement follows on from the 16 jobs announced by Kiernan Milling in Granard less than a month ago. These developments represent a real vote of confidence in Longford.”
