Granard District Court: Stole over €1,600 worth of items

A woman accused of stealing more than €1,600 worth of items from accommodation she had rented was warned that she would go to jail if she did not provide compensation to the injured party.

Biddy Doran of no fixed abode is accused of stealing a number of items totalling €1,687, from number 1 Pound Street, Edgeworthstown on June 10, 2015.

The court heard that Ms Doran had stolen a Super Ser heater, one large wardrobe, a mahogany table, three chairs, a black leather couch, a Go Chef electric cooker, a washing machine, a shower unit and delph.

The court heard that Ms Doran was 26 years old and five months pregnant.

Warning Ms Doran that she would go to prison unless she “provides restitution,” Judge Hughes put the matter back for second calling to allow Ms Doran to gather some funds.

“Start making calls otherwise you’re in custody,” he stated.

When she returned, Ms Doran handed in €500 in court and vowed to have another €500 on July 15.
