A thrilling rescue from drowning was witnessed in Tarmon on Wednesday evening last. The heroine was 18 year old Miss Marie Doyle of Ballymahon St, Longford who jumped fully clothed into the Shannon to save a 20 year old companion who got into difficulties in the water.
