A point from a free converted by Sean McCormack with the last kick of the game earned Killoe a draw against Clonguish in the Senior Championship Round 2 game at Maguire Park, Ballinalee on Friday evening last.

Both sides ended the game with 14 players; Killoe defender Darragh Bennett received a straight red card in the 27th minute while Ciaran Williams received his second yellow card with three minutes of normal time remaining.

Early points were traded between Paddy Dowd (free) and Ronan McGoldrick before Clonguish got the opening goal from Paul Barden and his brother David followed up with a nice point.

In the 18th minute Killoe were back in the game when Darragh Bennett scored a goal from a penalty after Clonguish keeper Stephen Watters brought down Denis McGoldrick. Paddy Dowd fired over a free minutes later but two points in quick succession drew Killoe level in the 23rd minute.

Dowd restored the Clonguish lead in the 24th minute before Killoe were reduced to 14 after Bennett was sent-off after a tussle involving a number of players. Kevin Burke and Paddy Dowd (free) put Clonguish ahead by three in the 30th minute before Denis McGoldrick hit over a point for Killoe to leave his side trailing by 1-6 to 1-4 at the break.

Killoe started the second half very well and three points in a row put them ahead for the first time in the 36th minute. The sides were then level twice before two points from Daniel Mimnagh edged Emmet Og in front by the 45th minute.

Clonguish hit back when Paul Barden set up Shane O’Brien for a goal and they then tagged on three further points. Killoe fired over three points to leave just one in it before McCormack landed a dramatic stoppage time free to leave the sides all square at the final whistle.
