St. Mel’s overcome St. Mary’s, Edenderry

St. Mel’s College deservedly overcame the reigning All-Ireland champions St. Mary’s of Edenderry after extra-time in the North Leinster Colleges Senior ‘A’ Football League semi-final at the Killoe grounds on Tuesday of last week.

St. Mel’s College deservedly overcame the reigning All-Ireland champions St. Mary’s of Edenderry after extra-time in the North Leinster Colleges Senior ‘A’ Football League semi-final at the Killoe grounds on Tuesday of last week.

Trailing by seven points at one stage during the second half, St. Mel’s came storming back in the final quarter and managed to force the game into extra-time thanks to a cracking goal from Niall Kelly and a well-taken point from Killian Farrell. 
St. Mel’s forged ahead in the extra-time period with Liam Hughes showing considerable skill in shooting to the back of the net and a Shane Tully point in the final minute clinched a significant victory in the build-up to the start of the Leinster Championship in January.
