Speaking at the recent Team of the Championship Awards function, Ryan stated that Longford intend to take the O’Byrne Cup seriously in the build up to the start of the National League Division 3 campaign at home to Offaly on Sunday February 5th but it remains to be seen how strong a team will be fielded against Athlone I.T.

Definitely missing will be Paddy Dowd (Clonguish), Diarmuid Masterson (Dromard) and Kevin Mulligan (Mullinalaghta St. Columba’s) who are no longer part of the panel for different reasons while presently out of action is Martin Brady after sustaining a broken bone in his hand.
