Goal rush gets Longford U-16 ladies through to the All-Ireland Final

The Longford U-16 ladies went on a goal rush to score a most emphatic win over Leitrim in the All-Ireland ‘B’ Football Championship semi-final at the Mullahoran grounds on Saturday last and the local derby was all over as a contest at half-time, at which stage the rampant Leinster title winners had established a commanding 5-5 to 0-5 lead. While Leitrim tried hard to make some sort of impact in the second half, they were fighting a losing battle and their cause was certainly not helped by some poor finishing throughout the game – a fact clearly reflected in their total of 12 wides as compared to just five for Longford who now advance to meet the Munster champions Tipperary in the All-Ireland decider on Saturday August 27th or Sunday August 28th.
