John Bannon wins contest for Leinster GAA Council Delegate

At a Special Longford GAA Convention in Aras Ui Bhriain on Tuesday night, former inter-county referee John Bannon (Legan Sarsfields) scored a comprehensive 53 to 23 votes win over Michael Lennon (Fr. Manning Gaels) in the contest for the Leinster Council Delegate, the position vacated by John Greene (Mostrim) following his recent election as Leinster Council PRO.

John Bannon is a former County Minor Board Chairman and one of the driving forces behind the annual Longford GAA Race Day at Punchestown with this year’s event scheduled for Wednesday April 25th next. John, who is still a referee at club level, joins the other Leinster Council Delegate Michael Carrigy (Sean Connolly’s) on the County Board Executive and they will represent Longford at the provincial meetings.
