All involved with Longford are delighted to have this game on home turf and are hoping that a huge crowd turn out to support the girls.

Longford played London in the first round of the Leinster championship and while they beat them with some ease, it is expected that London will travel on this occasion with a renewed vigour, with quite a number of players missing from the first game returning to the side.

The Longford girls have been busy preparing for this game as well as the upcoming All-Ireland Championship - fixtures and details of which should be available for next week’s Leader.

The commitment and dedication from the group has been second to none and it is clear that they are very hungry for success, so please come out next Saturday and cheer them on as they aim for their first success in what will hopefully be a very fruitful summer.

U-12s: Very well done to our U-12 representatives who travelled to Carlow on Saturday 13th July to play at half-time in the Leinster Ladies junior Final between Offaly and Wexford.

The Longford girls involved were: Tara Burke and Katie Devlin (Grattans); Kim Creegan and Ciara McGivney (Ballymore); Aibhín Masterson and Áine Fitzpatrick (Mullinalaghta); Grace Dinnegan and Sophie Hogan (St. Brigid’s); Faith Kelly (Slashers); Fiona Hourican and Kamille Burke (Clonguish).

The girls put on a magnificent display of football in their mini game beating Carlow 2-0 to 1-1 with the Longford goals coming from Kamille Burke and Sophie Hogan.

The girls will take to the field again on Saturday next to play at half-time in the Intermediate final in Pearse Park, where they will meet a London opposition made up of another 11 girls from Longford.

Goalkeeping Camp: Thank you to the girls and their clubs who attended our first goalkeeper specific camp on Saturday last in Killoe.

Thank you especially to Charles Canning for organising and facilitating this. Development officer Emer Kiernan is in the process of organising the next girls fun camps for mid and south Longford. Details of these will be available in the coming weeks.
