Clonguish regain Leader Cup

A well-taken goal from full-forward Ciaran Williams in the 21st minute of the first half proved to be the decisive score as Clonguish regained the Leader Cup they last won in 2008 and while they undoubtedly deserved to lift the famous old trophy for a record equalling 10th time, it must be said that Abbeylara provided stiff opposition in the entertaining senior football league final at Pearse Park on Sunday last.

While the comfortable margin of six points separated the sides in the finish, it would have been a much tighter contest but for the fact that Abbeylara were guilty of kicking a total of seven wides in the second half and went desperately close to getting the goal they so badly needed in the closing stages of the game.
