Longford GAA Club News - Ladies

LONGFORD LADIES GAA NEWS: Goalkeeping course. This great initiative has been undertaken by Charles Canning but it is very disappointing to note only 3 goalkeepers have turned up for the sessions. The goalkeeper is a vital position on any team and with over 50 goalkeepers in the county it is very important that goalkeepers are able to help each others out, show the training schedule required, take expert advise, etc. Your club secretary is getting all the information, please contact the secretary in your club for full details, every aid to your game should be utilised. U14, U16 and Minor County matches: Our U-14’s are at home against Offaly this Saturday at 2pm. There is no venue organised as we go to press but all clubs will be advised in due course. Our U-16s are travelling to Wicklow for their match while our Minors are at home against Meath on Monday March 18th, venue to be confirmed. Please give as much support as you can, our Executive is also asked to help out at the two home games. St. Patrick;s Day Parade: Our Irish Officer, Caroline Doyle, has organised a place for us in the Longford Chamber St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Longford. Requests have been sent out to all the club secretaries from Caroline, asking for club representation on the day, 2 to 3 members with an Executive member along with the members of the county teams to take part. All those taking part will be looked after on the day, please have your club secretary advise Caroline and Victor confirming who is taking part on behalf of your club on longfordladies@gmail.com Many thanks. Alternative “Rose” of Longford: Longford Ladies County board are hosting an Alternative “Rose” of Longford. We will be asking for “contestants” to take part, representing their club. If at all possible we would appreciate an escort, the rose with “her” sponsor on the night in MBCoys, full details from Pamela Coy. This will be a dress up night so keep your eyes on all publication and local radio. County Players Quiz night: The Intermediate county players had their quiz night in MB Coys on Friday night last. Thanks to MBCoys, Gerry Hagan and all the quiz “mistresses” for helping out on the night. The money raised is to help with financing the Intermediate county team training and kit expenses. Sincere thanks to the anonymous contributor on the night who left a sizeable donation to the ladies training fund, it is very much appreciated. Results from Round 1 of the Leagues: The first round winners of the League games last weekend were Edgeworthstown, Killoe, Mullinalaghta, Killoe B and Colmcille. Steve Coy big Birthday celebration: Congratulations to Steve Coy, Stephen’s Dad, on a big birthday celebration on March 9th. It was a great hooley but many were unable to attend due to Grainne Fox, former Rose of Longford, being married to Seanie Sheridan on the same day. Congratulations to all concerned.
