The speculation that Jack Sheedy was going to be reappointed the manager of the Longford senior football squad for a second term in charge has been confirmed and his position was ratified at a special meeting of the County Board last night (Thursday).

After completing his first season in charge, the highlight of which was a great win over Derry in Round 1 of the All-Ireland Qualifiers, Jack is back to lead Longford for the 2015 season and he is joined on the management team by former Ardagh and county player Philip Kiernan with another local selector yet to be appointed along with a coach to work alongside Sheedy.

With Longford suffering the bitter disappointment of getting relegated to Division 4 of the National League, a tough task lies ahead and Sheedy has relinquished the positions of Under 21 and Junior manager to concentrate solely on revitalising the fortunes of the county seniors.

Fr. Manning Gaels clubman and former county footballer Frank McNamee has been appointed the new manager of the Longford Under 21 squad, after serving as a selector in this grade last season, while Tony Devlin (Clonguish) will take charge of the Longford minors for the 2015 season. The positions of the Longford senior, Under 21 and minor managers for 2015 were all ratified at the special meeting of the County Board on Thursday night.
