Clonguish earn another crack at Slashers

Clonguish clinched top spot in Division 1B of the All County Football League after scoring a surprisingly easy win over a most disappointing Abbeylara outfit in the floodlit fixture at Allen Park on Wednesday night of last week and thus have earned another crack at Longford Slashers in their desire to gain some measure of revenge for their narrow defeat in the recent senior championship final.

The neighbouring clubs will battle it out again in the Division 1 league title decider for the Johnny Skelly Cup, which is scheduled for Pearse Park on Sunday November 6th, and Clonguish and Slashers (the sky-blues finished top of Division 1A) could also clash again in the Leader Cup Final with both sides having the bonus of home advantage in their respective semi-final games.
