There are two enforced changes on the Longford team to face Carlow in Round 1A of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Qualifiers at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Saturday evening, throw-in 7pm.

Sean Connolly’s clubman Dessie Reynolds (a county minor last year) makes his first senior championship start to take his place in the full-forward-line instead of the injured Barry McKeon while Cian Farrelly has departed to the United States for the summer months and he is replaced at left-corner-back by Fergal Battrim (Abbeylara).

Longford are bidding to bounce back from the horrendous 27 points defeat against Dublin in the recent Leinster Championship quarter-final clash at Croke Park and are generally regarded as the firm favourites to overcome Carlow who crashed to a 17 points hammering against Laois.

The Longford team v Carlow is as follows:

Paddy Collum (Fr Manning Gaels); Dermot Brady (Longford Slashers, captain), Barry O’Farrell (Carrickedmond), Fergal Battrim (Abbeylara); Colm P Smyth (Abbeylara), Barry Gilleran (Longford Slashers), Diarmuid Masterson (Dromard); Michael Quinn (Killoe Emmet Og), Kevin Diffley (Ballymahon); Peter Foy (Longford Slashers), Ronan McEntire (Dromard), Rory Connor (Kenagh); Ross McNerney (Dromard), Brian Kavanagh (Kilmacud Crokes), Dessie Reynolds (Sean Connolly’s).
