Longford Ladies U-16 team qualified for the Leinster B Shield Final after staging a second half comeback to beat Louth by one point. Longford went in at half-time eight points down on a scoreline of Louth 3-3 to Longford 1-1. The Longford girls seemed sluggish and were finding it difficult to cope with the fitness of some of the Louth team and Longford also had the aid of the wind. At this stage it was looking ominous for Longford. But the second half saw the Longford girls come out like a different team, now playing against the wind, they made a few positional changes and Longford took control of the game from the throw-in. The Longford defence put in a tremendous display with some superb fielding and forcing Louth into some wayward kicking while at the other end of the field some great skill was displayed in the goals that were scored. The Longford girls certainly dug deep gave their all to the final whistle. The Shield Final against Kilkenny is fixed for Monday 6th May, venue to be confirmed.
