Cnoc Mhuire, Granard have a proud sporting tradition and yet another chapter in their significant success story was written at McDonagh Park, Nenagh, on Saturday with the magnificent achievement of winning back-to-back titles in the All-Ireland Vocational Schools Junior (U-16) ‘A’ Football Championship.

Just a solitary point separated the sides in a tense and exciting finish as the Granard school held out for a well deserved win over Cork opponents Boherbue Comprehensive School, Mallow and it was full-forward Aidan McElligott who scored the decisive only goal in the 19th minute of the final which was played in difficult wet conditions at the Co Tipperary venue on St. Patrick’s Day.
