Wins for Longford Slashers and Fr. Manning Gaels in the Senior Championship

Longford Slashers eventually got the better of Abbeylara in the Senior Football Championship quarter-final at Pearse Park on Saturday evening last with the narrow margin of two points separating the sides in the finish and the title holders were joined in the last four by Fr. Manning Gaels.

Longford Slashers eventually got the better of Abbeylara in the Senior Football Championship quarter-final at Pearse Park on Saturday evening last with the narrow margin of two points separating the sides in the finish and the title holders were joined in the last four by Fr. Manning Gaels.

The Gaels scored a fairly emphatic eight points win over Ballymahon in the quarter-final replay last weekend and the Drumlish/Ballinamuck outfit are back in action at Pearse Park on Sunday evening next when they meet Clonguish in the semi-final, throw-in 5.45pm.

The remaining quarter-final tie between Colmcille and Killoe Young Emmets on Sunday evening last finished in a draw and the replay takes place at Pearse Park on Saturday evening next (throw-in 7.15pm) to determine who takes on Longford Slashers in the second semi-final on Sunday August 28th.
