Longford . . . . 0-16 Roscommon . . . . 2-8

Longford recovered from the shattering blow of conceding two goals in the early stages of the game in storming back to beat Roscommon by two points in a cracking contest at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday and thus consolidate their position at the top of the National Football League Division 3 table alongside the also unbeaten Antrim.

Goals from Cathal Cregg (5 mins) and Ger Heneghan (7 mins) put the visitors in control as they ended up leading by 2-4 to 0-7 at the break and Roscommon stretched their lead to five points in the early stages of the second half.

But the fitter Longford side found a new lease of life to completely dominate the remainder of the game, outscoring a stunned Roscommon side 0-9 to 0-2, with four of the points coming from chief marksman Sean McCormack along with a brace from Bernard McElvaney who played particularly well at centrefield on the changeover.
